MOTHER TERESA
2016. Crisis of the Middle East.
Thousands of refugees leave, rushing or running to save their lives and their loved ones. On one side stand TV cameras while on the other are the refugees. In between there are barbed wires. Right there, in those countries where Europe took its name, the splendor, the fame, where the West had its civilization born and in whose values these people had their hopes invested.
Only a Mother Teresa, a magnanimous soul like hers, would be able to give these people some warmth, to renew their hopes that were fading under the border searchlights of the border guards and STOP signs.
STOP signs encircled with a lot of barbed wire. STOP for these people whom the INDUSTRIAL DISEASE tore from their hearths though it stops short of sickening them. STOP for these people so the INDUSTRIAL DISEASE might have its way on their fraternal ones.
Barbed wires that not only obstruct the people but also seize the dreams.
More news: summits and summits after summits for achieving the peace on the Middle East. More wire clips, only this time they serve to clip the agreement acts that perhaps will never bring the peace.
So many wires are but a huge waste.
It is not the wires' fault, I thought for a moment as I was watching the news, but it is the peace that can't settle in these lands. And so it happened that it came to me, in an alchemist manner, to transform the cold matter of the wires into a warm and liberating sensation. And, as Mother Teresa said: "There is no more universal sensation than that of the smile".
In my nostrils I felt the smell of the molten steel that would later transform unto the matter of my next art work and I smiled, relieved by the fact that at least a little bit from that material would not be used to produce wires that tear people and souls apart but for a bridge that unifies them and offers them joy.
