MEDITERRANEAN

On that warm Mediterranean night we all talked and talked (all of us, friends, artists, poets and musicians) about those things which Mediterranean countries have in common. We talked about the sun as well, about the sea, about the music and certainly we talked about the wine, but mainly about the warm Mediterranean spirit and romanticism.

I presume, one of the people present said, that in our time even the Mediterranean has been captured by the INDUSTRIAL DISEASE. Romanticism has withdrawn and, it seems to me, that the present times Juliet stays by some traffic light waiting to get on some luxurious car, even though the driver within is not called Romeo. Thou, sadly, he added and we all kept our peace, the witnesses of this beautiful conversation we are having tonight are only these corks which used to guard the secrets of these empty wine bottles.

I asked from each friend who was present at the table to sign on the corks. As they were writing down their autographs, doubtful that this was some sort of a game, I promised them, right there and then, that I would realize a giant art piece dedicated to the Mediterranean and made entirely with corks.

As I was collecting all the signed corks, to pass them into the history of art, it seemed to me for a moment that my hand had taken a corky nuance…
